Central Oregon Builders Association Commercial Builder of the Year Award

At the annual awards banquet held by the Central Oregon Builders Association (COBA), Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company was awarded the 2016, Commercial Builder of the Year Award. The award was presented by Tim Knopp the Executive Vice President of COBA. “KNCC, has won dozens of awards for excellence including the Bend Chamber Business of the Year, Building a Better Central Oregon, the Governors Livability Award and the World of Concrete, Excellence Award. KNCC, is also a major donor to many Central Oregon Charities. This is their 5th. COBA Excellence Award” stated Executive Vice President Tim Knopp.

2017 Mid-Oregon Construction Safety Summit

Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company was happy to participate in the 2017 Mid-Oregon Construction Safety Summit Safety Summit, where Jeff Deswert was a key note speaker. Several team members took advantage of the Safety training provided during the two day conference. In an industry where safety is an extremely important active component, we are happy to be a part of this annual summit as part of our ongoing Safety commitment

 

 

2017 Snow Removal

early-morning-crew-briefing_aThe winter of 2017 will be remembered as one of the worst winters in recent history with a record amount of snow falling in the Central Oregon area. Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company (KNCC) immediately began to receive phone calls for help from the Bend-LaPine School District, Deschutes County and many businesses and private residents requesting immediate assistance with removal of heavy snow from the roofs of buildings. In the attached photos, employees of KNCC, attend an early morning briefing from company President Jeff Deswert, where they received their duty assignments for the next several days. Also pictured is KNCC staff removing snow from Nosler Corporation in Bend, Oregon, as well as blowing snow from the Deschutes County Services Building located in Bend. Several Bend-La Pine Schools also required KNCC crews to reduce the heavy load of the snow. KNCC and its employees take a great deal of pride in responding to public needs and supporting our communities in any way we can.

Deschutes Children Foundation – Playscape Project

Thank you Deschutes County Sheriff Shane Nelson and the Deschutes County Sheriffs Dept. Inmate Work Crew. Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company is a proud sponsor of the Deschutes Children’s Foundationlocated in Bend, Oregon and last weekend we spent time with the work crew as they helped prepare logs for the upcoming nature playscape playground project. Nature playscapes are play grounds inspired by the outdoors. The Foundation is updating the heavily used playground at the East Bend Campus with a new playground intended to introduce the children who play there to the wonders of the world. The project will continue through the summer and should be ready when the children return this fall. Sherman County Courthouse Annex

A public open house was held on June 2, 2016 in Moro, Oregon to show-case the continuing schematic design phase of the 15,250 square foot courthouse annex addition to the existing Sherman County Courthouse located in Moro. Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company has been selected as the CM/GC Contractor for the annex. Wenaha Group has been selected as the Owners Representative and Hennebery Eddy Architects has been selected to design the building. The open house was held to continue to receive input and provide information to the public, elected officials, building committee members and Sherman County, Oregon staff as it relates to the progress of the final phases of schematic design. The building is scheduled to begin construction late winter 2016 or early winter 2017. The estimated cost of the project is 8.7 million dollars.

Healthy Beginnings Luncheon

June 1, 2016

A fund raising and recognition luncheon was held on June 1, 2016 at The Riverhouse Hotel And Convention Center in Bend, Oregon to benefit Healthy Beginnings (Central Oregon). Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company is a proud “Presenting Sponsor” of Healthy Beginnings. The Healthy Beginnings organization provides the most comprehensive assessment and referral services for health and development of every child under six years old in Central Oregon. The free screenings provide parents with knowledge about key milestones in their child’s development. Trained professional like speech pathologists, behavior specialists and dental hygienists, share their experience to identify health and development concerns that may delay a child’s ability to learn at the same rate as their peers.

New Project – Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center

Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company has been selected as the CM/GC General Contractor for the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center. The Center is being constructed on the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla Indian Reservation near Pendleton, Oregon. The design of the 63,000 square foot medical clinic facility is in the final phases and the project is scheduled to begin in July 2016 and completion is scheduled for Summer of 2017. The Clinic will house medical, dental, behavioral health, physical therapy and a pharmacy. Wenaha Group is the owners representative and NBBJ Architects have been selected as the architects for the project.

Community Counseling Solutions – New Project

Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company has been selected as the CM/GC General Contractor for the 9,200 square foot Clinic and Administration Building for the Community Counseling Solutions Center in Heppner, Oregon. The project owner is Community Counseling Solutions, Inc. and Pinnacle Architecture is the selected architect for the project. The design phase is under way and construction is due to begin Fall of 2016.

2016 Safety Week

The week of May 9 through May 13 was the second annual, company sponsored, safety week here at Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company(KNCC). Each of our KNCC Offices in Bend, Oregon, Portland, Oregon and Pendleton, Oregon participated in the week long safety education and training week which was in conjunction with “Safety Break for Oregon.”

During the week each jobsite throughout the State had informative talks about safety hazards and KNCC’s continued commitment to promote training, awareness and education for each of our employees and subcontractors. Several individual jobsite barbeques were conducted and on Friday May 13, employees were invited to a barbeque hosted by KNCC management at the Bend Office where tools and safety equipment was issued and won during a company sponsored raffle.

This event was planned and organized by the Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company Safety Committee.

Central Oregon Community College Foundation Meal of the Year

Central Oregon Community College Foundation Meal of the YearSaturday evening February 27, 2016 was the date scheduled for the annual Central Oregon Community College Foundation Meal of the Year. Staff and invited guests of Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company enjoy the evening and were treated to a four course meal prepared by Cascade Culinary Institute. Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company is an annual supporter of this event which raises financial support  for scholarships for students of Central Oregon community College.
