In December 2016, Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company was awarded the construction contract for a new Crook County Correction Facility to be constructed in Prineville Oregon. The facility is being designed by DLR Group and is being managed by Sheriff’s Office Administrative Staff. The project is in the early design and programming phase with actual construction to begin in the fall of 2017 and completed in 2018. The construction is a CM/GC contract model with a total budget of approximately $13 million. The facility will be approximately 75 beds with several different inmate classification housing areas and space for inmate programs to help reduce recidivism. The Correction Facility will be constructed adjacent to the existing Sheriff’s Office and County and City owned property. The project was made possible by the passing of a construction bond in the November 2016 election.
