The Hood River County School District has selected Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the May, 2016 Bond Projects.
The Hood River County School District currently serves approximately 4,149 students in five elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and the Pine Grove campus, which houses early childhood programs.
The intended scope of the 2016 Bond Projects includes replacement of the May Street Elementary School, additional instructional space at Hood River Valley High School, Cascade Locks Elementary, Hood River Middle School, and Wy’East Middle School. Project scope also includes a variety of District wide improvements to address building security, energy efficiency, building envelope improvements (including roof repairs and window replacements), ADA access and, fire and life safety upgrades.
The District passed a bond measure in the May 2016 election. The total project budget is approximately $62.6m, consisting of a $57.2m general obligation bond, a $4.5m Oregon Department of Education (ODE) grant, and an $898k seismic grant from the State of Oregon. In addition, it is likely that an additional funding source will become available, potentially in the $9m range. Therefore, total bond project budget (including soft costs) will be approximately $70m.
