On August 25, 2016 the Milton Freewater Unified School District announced the intent to award the construction contract for the upcoming district wide project work to Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company. The 12.5 million dollar bond was approved by the citizens of the Milton Freewater Unified School District in May of 2016. An additional 15 million dollar grant was received from the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation as well as an additional 4 million dollars in state education grant funds. The total construction amount will be in excess of 25 million dollars.
Wenaha Group Incorporated of Pendleton has been selected as the project manager and Architects West from Coeur d’Alene Idaho and Opsis Architecture of Portland have been selected as the project architects. The projects includes a new K-3 Elementary School, Grove Sports Complex, relocation of the bus barn and maintenance yard as well as district-wide safety, security, technology, and mechanical systems upgrades.
The Construction Manager General Contractor (CM/GC) project will be managed out of the Pendleton Division Office of Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company and is expected to be completed in fall of 2018.
