HEAVY EQUIPMENT / DIESEL MECHANIC
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct service and repairs on all light and heavy-duty construction equipment including bobcats, cranes, excavators, forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, generators, and compressors
- Routinely service fleet pickup trucks
- Disassemble, assemble, and troubleshoot equipment for repair at shop or on job site
- Perform maintenance on diesel, hydraulic systems, fuel injection, brake systems, drive trains and undercarriages
- Troubleshoot and repair some 12-volt to 24-volt electrical systems
- Weld and fabricate material for equipment repairs
- Operate forklifts and scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Demonstrate use of safety equipment and PPE in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations to minimize or eliminate risk of workplace accidents
- Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company
- Perform all other duties as assigned to aid in the overall success of the company
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required and applicable trade school certification
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- A working knowledge of equipment brands: Caterpillar, Skyjack, Genie, Bobcat, Kenworth, International, Ingersoll Rand, John Deere, Miller and more
- Solid organizational skills in order to track and manage service records and inventory of equipment
- Current driver’s license and good driving record
- Basic set of tools required
- Reliable and safety minded
Preferred Skills
- Must have physical strength and manual dexterity, including hand/eye coordination, to manage all materials and tasks as required per job
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, elevated platforms, work around moving equipment, work in dusty and or high wind environments
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis and stand/walk up to 90% of normal workday
- Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision and in a fast-paced environment with adherence to shop timelines for repairs
- possess good communication skills for internal and external customers
- Travel out of town to work on remote job sites as directed by management
