KNCC was chosen as the CM/GC partner to conduct district-wide upgrades as part of a 2019 Capital Improvement Bond approved by the Union community. These award-winning upgrades were crucial to extending the life of the campus’s historical buildings, and an important preservation for the community. The project consisted of safety and security upgrades including new vestibule entries, interior and exterior painting of the buildings, a remodeled commons area in the high school, an HVAC replacement, an external elevator tower addition to the high school, a gymnasium entry addition, and more. An additional project part of the same bond was a full seismic rehabilitation of the high school gymnasium.

This project won a 2023 DeMuro Award by Restore Oregon for Excellence in Historical Restoration. This is the state’s highest honor for the preservation, reuse, and revitalization of architectural and cultural sites.
