Growing up in the small town of Union, Oregon, Dalton began working on his grandfather’s cattle ranch as soon as he was old enough to walk. Ranch life taught him far more than cattle care, providing hands-on experience in building and maintaining structures that sparked a lifelong passion for construction. After graduating from high school, he moved to Southern California in 1977 and joined Local 714 in Huntington Beach as a union carpenter in commercial construction. Over the course of a 50-year career, he advanced from carpenter to foreman, superintendent, general superintendent, project manager, and owner. Despite wearing many hats throughout his career, the role he enjoys most is superintendent, where his passion for leadership, problem-solving, and field operations shines. His extensive industry experience spans virtually every type of construction, with a particular appreciation for five-over-one podium projects and deep expertise in tilt-up construction. Outside of work, he and his wife enjoy traveling and have visited 14 countries, including a trip during which he circumnavigated the globe. He is also an avid fly fisherman who enjoys camping, barbecuing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
