SUNRIVER PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
Project Description
The Sunriver Service District was formed in 2002, which is a special district managing the Sunriver Police and Fire Departments. Both departments have effectively served the residents and visitors of Sunriver; however, rapid community growth and aging facilities no longer met modern public safety standards. In response, the Sunriver Service District Board led a successful bond measure to fund a new, combined Public Safety Building through the renovation and expansion of the existing fire station, increasing its footprint from 12,750 to 31,589 sf. The consolidated facility brings both fire and police departments under one roof, improving operational efficiency through shared administrative spaces, training rooms, and fitness facilities, while providing the public with a centralized location for public safety services. Key project priorities included the addition of gender-neutral living quarters, restrooms, and shower accommodations, as well as decontamination rooms and steam showers to enhance firefighter health and safety. The resulting Sunriver Public Safety Building is a highly functional and efficient facility that supports long‑term public safety needs, improves recruitment and retention of first responders, and reflects the community’s pride in and commitment to public safety.
